Advanced Practitioner  (NP/PA) - Medical Oncology - Vassar Brothers Medical Center (Poughkeepsie, NY, 75 minutes north of NYC)

Vassar Brothers Medical Center, part of Nuvance Health, is seeking an Advanced Practitioner (Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant) to work in collaboration with the Medical Oncology team at Vassar Brothers in Poughkeepsie, New York, located just 75 minutes north of New York City. This position will coordinate, oversee and provide advanced nursing care to medical oncology patients and function as a Clinical Patient Navigator for this population.

The ideal candidate will be a board certified Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant with previous Hematology/Oncology experience and looking to join a dedicated and collegial team. This position requires a minimum formal education of Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant training, State of NY license, and Federal DEA. Our employed Medical Practice includes 1000+ physicians and advanced practitioners throughout our 7 hospital system. 

Our model of care is multi-disciplinary, integrated and collaborative among all system hospitals. We are accredited by the COC and NAPBC. The team includes Medical Oncologists, Surgical and Radiation Oncologists, Pathologists, Radiologists, Reconstructive Plastic Surgeons and medical subspecialties. We have a cohesive team of employed physicians and allied health providers, including dieticians, genetic counselors, research coordinators, social workers and navigators that function in a comprehensive and integrated model of care that is patient centered. The Nuvance Health Cancer Institute is a member of NRG and has a robust clinical trials office including phase one trials, and strong collaboration with PhD’s, physician scientists and dedicated research coordinators. 

Job Highlights:

  • Works collaboratively with physicians and nurses and is responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients.
  • Conducts comprehensive and episodic heath history and physical assessment of patients.
  • Oversees treatment infusions and supportive care needs.
  • Writes orders within the limits of the practice agreement.
  • Maintains clinical documentation according to group practice.
  • Participates in clinical quality and research as needed.
  • Educates patients, families and caregivers on treatment plans.
  • Participates in learning opportunities.
